Factory Acceptance Testing

At your request, we can perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on a piece of new equipment before we ship it to your facility. The purpose of this testing is to ensure the system you ordered is operating in accordance with our design specifications. FAT features functional tests that examine multiple areas including the alarms. During the testing, we typically invite our clients to send two inspectors per unit to come and witness the tests that usually last around 3 hours per Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system. However, due to COVID-19 we are now offering virtual FAT.

New Virtual Factory Acceptance Testing Offering

As COVID-19 has been affecting the ability to travel and gather, we now have a Virtual Factory Acceptance Testing option. This new offering allows our clients to digitally participate in FAT and still be a part of the testing process. The virtual FAT operates using three different cameras, two stationary that provide different views of the unit and Test Technician and another camera that allows for closeups. Our two expert Test Technicians perform the tests, answer questions and narrate the video for everyone attending virtually.

Virtual Factory Acceptance Testing Benefits

  • The number of inspectors is no longer limited, and more people can take part in the process
  • Save time and money by not having to travel to our Ohio facility

AMETEK Factory Acceptance Testing Features:

  • Functionals tests: alarms, regulation, current limits and static switch transfers
  • Charger Ripple
  • Optional tests that are specific to the client
