Do you have a remote application that requires a set it and forget it charger that takes minimal training to operate? If so, AMETEK Solidstate Controls has the perfect charging solution for you.
The new modular Ascend High Frequency Charger was designed with remote applications in mind with easy installation and simple upkeep. We know it can take time to access the location to troubleshoot an issue, so we’ve ensured the charger is intuitive to use and fix. Ascend’s modules utilize load sharing so even if one module stops working, the output will continue running. If a problem arises with the charger, an alarm notification is sent out and, whether you’re a novice or seasoned pro, most can troubleshoot the issue and make the repair in under 15 minutes. Our short demonstration video below will take you through set up, alarms, replacing a module and more.
Ascend can maintain charge to batteries and supply power to instrumentation equipment at substations such as:
- SCADA (Supervisory control and data acquisition) systems
- DCS (Distributed control systems)
- Protective Relays
- Fault Recorders
Ascend High Frequency Charger is a digital signal processor (DSP) controlled, Switchmode Rectifier system designed for high-efficiency conversion of incoming commercial AC power to clean DC power. The solid-state design utilizes high frequency switching to provide regulated, current-limited DC power. The modules are not only easily accessible for a quick and simple replacement and low mean time to repair (MTTR), but can also be configured for expansion, giving you the option to increase capacity. Ascend has the ability to operate with or without batteries and can also be used as a stand-alone device for battery-charging only applications.
We know some systems require a charger with lower input currents so there is less demand on the distribution system, which is why we offer a three phase option. With smaller wire and breakers, it is perfect for distribution panels that may not be able to handle the currents of a single phase charger. The three phase charger has all the same functions and benefits as the single phase plus a few additional benefits you can find below.
Features and Benefits:
- Single phase input voltage: 208/240 VAC
- Single phase input: 20 -100 A
- Three phase input voltage: 480 VAC
- Three phase input: 20 - 280 A
- Output voltage: 110, 120 VDC
- Advanced switching and power electronics technology
- Up to 94% efficient, reducing power consumption
- Input Power Factor Correction better than 0.95, input THD <5%
- Reliable industrial design; MTBF >205,000 hours
- Low input harmonic distortion
- Simultaneous voltage and current readings
- User definable control and alarm set-points
- Meets IEEE-519 requirements
- UL1012 (UL, cUL) approved (3-phase pending)
Features and Benefits Exclusive to the Three Phase:
- AC input voltage and current metering
- AC phase loss voltage alarm
- AC input low voltage alarm
- AC input high voltage alarm
- Module voltage input failure default alarm
