Did you know that AMETEK Solidstate Controls will perform Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)? At your request, we will perform Factory Acceptance Testing on the new equipment you’ve ordered before we ship it to your facility. A standard FAT typically takes 4 hours per Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system, and we invite our clients to bring two inspectors per unit to come and witness the tests.

During this time, our Test Team will conduct a full startup and shutdown of the system, while walking you through any requested faults and procedures, so that you know how the system will react during a real-world situation. Before you leave, you’ll confirm that your system is designed to your specifications and a punch sheet will be created if there are any changes that need to be made. Once our engineers make the needed revisions, you will receive confirmation in the form of additional test data or photos to which you’ll sign off on before we ship your equipment. If you can’t make it to our facility in Columbus, Ohio, we can perform the FAT virtually.

AMETEK Factory Acceptance Testing Features:

  • Functionals tests: indicators, controls, bypasses, switches and alarms
  • Simulated failures: discharged battery bank, loss of AC input voltage, inverter failure, shorted SCR in static switch
  • Mechanical quality check: UPS is de-energized so the client can look over their system
  • Overload tests
  • Inverter efficiency
  • Factory tour
  • Inverter and charger regulation tests
  • Explanation of UPS operations and expected results
  • Optional tests that are specific to the client
