Hurricane Katrina Disaster Recovery

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Like the rest of the country, our entire AMETEK Solidstate Controls (SCI) family is united together with everyone in the Gulf region in this terrible time. The devastation of this unprecedented storm will be felt for months and years to come. At SCI, we are committed, as we always have been, to working with our clients to help them solve their problems.

We want to assure all of our clients that we stand ready to work with them through this disaster to ensure a safe, orderly transition to full power when the time comes to bring their plants back into operation. With that in mind, we have published a Service Bulletin that outlines the exact steps that should be followed prior to, and during, re-energizing UPS systems, Inverters, Battery Chargers, and Batteries. Water damaged equipment must be inspected very thoroughly before being re-energized. Refer to the appropriate NEMA publication(s) for more details regarding the proper handling of water-damaged electrical equipment.

In addition to this special web page, we have also created a Hurricane Disaster Recovery Team, with a special 24 hour "Hotline" (1-888-724-4373, or 1-888-SCI-HERE), that will allow clients specifically affected by the Hurricane to call and get immediate answers to any questions they may have regarding safety procedures, service, spare parts, equipment, etc. We are working with our suppliers to insure that we will have an adequate supply of parts and components available for our clients. In addition, we are increasing our stock of certain transformers, Printed Circuit Boards, etc. Our Houston, TX service center also has several pieces of equipment and available for short term rental.
